It is with heavy hearts that we share this message with you today. On Saturday, three of our students were involved in a quad accident. Unfortunately, one of them, Leslie Avila, passed away Sunday morning. Leslie was a member of our Ag. Academy, FFA Leadership Team, and showed sheep at the Merced County Fair. She was kind, hard working, and loved by her FFA and Ag. Family. As we navigate this heartbreaking situation, the most important thing we can do is to be supportive, talk to each other, express our feelings, and ask for help when needed. For this reason, LGHS has set up for counselors to be available for staff and students. Today, we will have a counselor available at Planada Elementary and at LGHS for student support. Mrs. Campos will be available at LGHS Tuesday-Thursday for any students that would like to talk. We invite all students to come in to write letters and cards to show support for Leslie, her family, and friends. Services for Leslie will be held on Thursday and Friday. Along with her parents, the Ag. Teachers would like you to wear FFA Uniform or FFA Apparel. If you don’t have FFA dress please wear pink or yellow. The viewing will be held Thursday evening from 5:00-8:00pm at Templo La Hermosa (545 Kibby Rd., Merced, CA). A rosary will be held on Friday at 12:30pm at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church (9317 Amistad St., Planada, CA) followed by Mass at 2:00pm. As we grieve together and come to grips with what has occurred, please keep all involved in your thoughts. Reach out to an Ag. Teacher or Mrs. Campos if needed. 💙💛Ms. Galan, Mrs. Faria, Ms. Azevedo, and Ms. Hernandez
